Since 1998, Paul has served in Beijing, São Paulo, Brussels and Guadalajara as a Commercial Diplomat for the U.S. Department of Commerce. In 2014, he began working at Commerce’s office in Denver where he gave export advice to local companies in a number of sectors, including optics and photonics, education & training, publishing & media, and financial & investment services. Paul has an entrepreneurial background, having founded and managed four private companies in the trade, education, art and real estate sectors. He holds a BA in journalism from San Diego State University, an MA in international relations from San Francisco State University and another MA in political science from George Washington University. Sue Taylor is Vice President of Economics and Policy for Leprino Foods Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese and a leading producer of whey protein, lactose and other dairy ingredients. Located in Denver, Colo. Leprino Foods operates nine manufacturing plants in the United States and has joint ventures in the UK and in Brazil. As a family-owned company operating for over 65 years, the company supplies the highest quality products to food and nutrition companies in 40+ countries around the globe. The acceleration in Leprino Foods’ exports over the last decade has been through a combination of creative entrepreneurial spirit and advances in trade disciplines through the WTO agreement, NAFTA, and the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS (AND HOST)
 
David Cole (speaker & host)
David Cole is President and CEO of Eurasian Minerals (NYSE: EMXX). He has over twenty-five years of mining and mineral exploration industry experience. In December 2003, he founded Eurasian Minerals Inc. as a public company, which has grown from a $3 Million to $100 Million-market capitalization. Eurasian Minerals boasts over 100 exploration projects in 11 countries. Just after founding Eurasian Minerals Inc., David founded Standard Uranium Corporation, a public uranium exploration and development company, which was later sold to Energy Metals Corporation. Prior to founding Eurasian Minerals and Standard Uranium Corp, David came from Newmont Mining Corporation where he held a number of management and senior geologic positions, gaining extensive global business and technical experience. His success as part of Newmont’s exploration team includes contributions at the world class Carlin Trend (Nevada, USA), Yanacocha (Peru), and Minihasa (Indonesia) mines. Subsequently, he established and managed Newmont’s exploration programs in Turkey while also identifying early stage acquisition targets in Eastern Europe. David earned his Masters Degree from Colorado State University in 1991 and is a member of several professional organizations and local and international societies. In addition to his duties as President and CEO of a rapidly growing public company, David manages a private Merchant Banking portfolio focused on early stage natural resource development.
Stéphane Lessard (speaker)
Stéphane Lessard joined Global Affairs Canada at the Consulate General of Canada in August 2016. As Canada’s Consul General in Denver, Stéphane oversees a team of 17 people who work within Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Utah and Wyoming to strengthen trade and economic ties; enhance political, academic and cultural links; and assist Canadians visiting or living in the five-state U.S. Mountain West region. Stéphane began his career practicing commercial law in Montréal before joining the Canadian Federal Government in 1993, where he has held numerous senior and executive positions. Prior to arriving in Denver, Stéphane spent the last ten years with Health Canada (2006 to 2016), where he served in different executive positions across the Offices of the Chief Scientist, the Strategic Policy Branch, the Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch, and the Pest Management Regulatory Agency. He has also worked with the Canadian Space Agency (1993 to 2004), where, as the Head of International Affairs, he oversaw relationships with foreign national and multinational space agencies; and with Global Affairs Canada’s Global Partnership Program (2004 to 2006), where he focused on preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.  Stéphane holds a BCL from the University of Montréal, his LLM in Air & Space Law from McGill University, his LLB from the University of Ottawa, and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. A native of Montréal, Canada, Stéphane and his wife, Raji Bansal, have three children: Jasmine, Lana and Benjamin.
