David Cole (speaker & host)
David Cole is President and CEO of Eurasian Minerals (NYSE: EMXX). He has over twenty-five years of mining and mineral exploration industry experience. In December 2003, he founded Eurasian Minerals Inc. as a public company, which has grown from a $3 Million to $100 Million-market capitalization. Eurasian Minerals boasts over 100 exploration projects in 11 countries. Just after founding Eurasian Minerals Inc., David founded Standard Uranium Corporation, a public uranium exploration and development company, which was later sold to Energy Metals Corporation. Prior to founding Eurasian Minerals and Standard Uranium Corp, David came from Newmont Mining Corporation where he held a number of management and senior geologic positions, gaining extensive global business and technical experience. His success as part of Newmont’s exploration team includes contributions at the world class Carlin Trend (Nevada, USA), Yanacocha (Peru), and Minihasa (Indonesia) mines. Subsequently, he established and managed Newmont’s exploration programs in Turkey while also identifying early stage acquisition targets in Eastern Europe. David earned his Masters Degree from Colorado State University in 1991 and is a member of several professional organizations and local and international societies. In addition to his duties as President and CEO of a rapidly growing public company, David manages a private Merchant Banking portfolio focused on early stage natural resource development.
Stéphane Lessard (speaker)
Stéphane Lessard joined Global Affairs Canada at the Consulate General of Canada in August 2016. As Canada’s Consul General in Denver, Stéphane oversees a team of 17 people who work within Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Utah and Wyoming to strengthen trade and economic ties; enhance political, academic and cultural links; and assist Canadians visiting or living in the five-state U.S. Mountain West region. Stéphane began his career practicing commercial law in Montréal before joining the Canadian Federal Government in 1993, where he has held numerous senior and executive positions. Prior to arriving in Denver, Stéphane spent the last ten years with Health Canada (2006 to 2016), where he served in different executive positions across the Offices of the Chief Scientist, the Strategic Policy Branch, the Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch, and the Pest Management Regulatory Agency. He has also worked with the Canadian Space Agency (1993 to 2004), where, as the Head of International Affairs, he oversaw relationships with foreign national and multinational space agencies; and with Global Affairs Canada’s Global Partnership Program (2004 to 2006), where he focused on preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.  Stéphane holds a BCL from the University of Montréal, his LLM in Air & Space Law from McGill University, his LLB from the University of Ottawa, and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. A native of Montréal, Canada, Stéphane and his wife, Raji Bansal, have three children: Jasmine, Lana and Benjamin.

Sergey Vladimirovitch Petrov
Mr. Sergey V. Petrov was born in Moscow in 1962. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1986 and the same year joined diplomatic service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
Sergey Petrov’s first assignment was at the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan. Upon completion of his tour of duty he worked at various posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1995 he was appointed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the USA, specializing on Congressional affairs and interparliamentary exchanges.
Since 1999 he worked in Moscow at the office of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgiy Mamedov, in 2002-2003 as the head of his office. In 2003 he was appointed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada, where he soon reached the position of Minister-Counselor and worked there for 8 years. Since 2011 he served as Deputy Director of North American Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
On March 5, 2013 Sergey Petrov assumed the duties of Consul General of the Russian Federation in San Francisco. Mr. Petrov speaks English, as well as Farsi and French. He is married and has an adult son.
Dr. Deborah A. Palmieri
Dr. Deborah Anne Palmieri is founder and president of Deb Palmieri Russia LLC, a management consulting firm. The firm specializes in providing clients with superior expertise on all aspects of business with Russia, including strategy, problem-solving, risk minimization, corporate training, feasibility studies and special projects. Dr. Palmieri is also Honorary Consul General of Russia in the State of Colorado. She served as president and CEO of The Russian-American Chamber of Commerce® (headquartered in Denver) from 1994 to early 2007.
 For the past twenty-five years, Dr. Palmieri has undertaken the mission of expanding U.S.-Russian business and trade and fostering a positive business climate. She has written countless articles, organized hundreds of meetings and has brought private companies and public officials together in pursuit of U.S.-Russian economic cooperation. She is experienced in diplomatic back channeling, problem-solving and conflict resolution between Russian and Western entities at the highest levels. Dr. Palmieri’s initiatives and approaches have opened doors and solved problems for corporations and projects over several decades. Her goodwill, win-win and behind-the-scenes approaches and reputation for integrity and excellence have proven to be unique assets in confidence building and producing successful results and outcomes.

Dr. Palmieri is the co-author or editor of five books, including Russia and the NIS in the World Economy: East-West Investment, Financing and Trade; The U.S.S.R. and the World Economy; and The Dynamics of Soviet Foreign Policy. She is editor of a 5-volume set, The Ultimate Insider’s Guide to Doing Business with Russia, a definitive guide on business with Russia.

Dr. Palmieri holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Colorado, Boulder; a Master’s from the University of Denver, Graduate School of International Studies, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.

ABOUT OUR MODERATOR FOR THIS SERIES OF EVENTS
Paul Kullman
Paul Kullman is President of Business Beyond Borders, a strategic business consultancy that assists companies to successfully trade and invest around the world. Since 1998, Paul has served in Beijing, São Paulo, Brussels and Guadalajara as a Commercial Diplomat for the U.S. Department of Commerce. In 2014, he began working at Commerce’s office in Denver where he gave export advice to local companies in a number of sectors, including optics and photonics, education & training, publishing & media, and financial & investment services. Paul has an entrepreneurial background, having founded and managed four private companies in the trade, education, art and real estate sectors. He holds a BA in journalism from San Diego State University, an MA in international relations from San Francisco State University and another MA in political science from George Washington University. Paul speaks Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, German, French, Swedish and English.
